Let’s Talk Story Club was founded in honor of Audrey and Taisho’s grandmother, their “Obaachama.” They wanted to create a way for people to preserve and honor the stories of the seniors in their lives.

After the release of the original Let’s Talk Story book, Taisho and Audrey saw an opportunity to help even more seniors. They came to a conclusion: Let’s create the book in Spanish and center it on Latin American culture.
That’s where I come into the picture. My name is Ian Gomez. I’m a Mexican-American teen based in the Bay Area, and creating this book has been a life-changing experience

Creating Tomemos un Cafecito has given me the amazing opportunity to research and truly learn more about this culture I thought I was an expert in. It’s a project dear and near to my heart I have high hopes for.
Growing up in the Bay Area, I’ve had the opportunity to meet people with roots all over the world. Learning about different cultures allowed me to reflect not only on the beauty of diversity, but also to appreciate my own culture as a Latino.
