got questions? we’ve got answers.
1. I want to volunteer. What do I do?
The Let’s Talk Story Club works with youth organizations and students who volunteer their time to “talk story” with seniors. If you are interested in volunteering or in coordinating a senior “memory collection workshop,” please send an email to info@letstalkstoryclub.org.
2. What do volunteers receive?
We operate on donations only, which helps us provide our youth volunteers with the book at no cost. All of our volunteers must agree to submit a final survey once their book is complete.
3. I’m a student. Can I receive community service hours?
Yes! The Let’s Talk Story Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. If you require a supervisor’s signature to receive school credit for volunteer hours, please follow these steps:
Then email info@letstalkstoryclub.org requesting a supervisor’s signature. Please allow 3-5 business days for review and response.
Once you complete the book with your senior, you must submit the final survey using the QR code you received in your volunteer packet. Your submission must include a brief write-up about your seniors’ Let’s Talk Story Club experience.
4. Can I purchase the book?
Yes, the Tomemos un Cafecito book is available for purchase here. All profits will help fund our free community workshops, where seniors are paired up with youth to complete the book.
5. Can I donate to the Let’s Talk Story Club?
Yes! Donations are greatly appreciated. They are the only way we can keep providing books to our youth volunteers who capture and preserve seniors’ stories.

You can also Venmo @letstalkstory, or send cash or write a check to The Let’s Talk Story Club and mail to 117 Briar Rose, Irvine, CA 92618.
6. Do the seniors need to be Japanese in order to create a book?
Absolutely not. Though the Tomemos un Cafecito book is written in Spanish and contains Latinamerican cultural references, your seniors do not need to be Latinamerican to benefit from creating a memory book.
7. What if I have more questions?
Email audrey@letstalkstoryclub.org or taisho@letstalkstoryclub.org. We’re here to help!
